The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office encourages anyone experiencing domestic violence to contact the Call to Safety Crisis Line at 888.235.5333 or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800.799.7233.

“Domestic violence is not a private matter, but a serious, preventable public health epidemic that affects millions of Americans,” the DA’s office said in a statement. “The single biggest risk factor for domestic homicide is a prior incidence of domestic violence. Studies show that 50% of domestic homicide victims had been visited by the police for domestic abuse at least once previously.”
