Husband and wife watched lottery drawing while out for lunch — and ‘started yelling’

A Michigan couple was on their way home from work when they decided to stop for lunch at Amore’s Grill & Spirits.

“We only eat at places that have Club Keno because it’s fun to watch the drawings while we wait for our food,” Angela Antico told Michigan Lottery officials. “Amore’s is one of our favorite places.”

As Club Keno drawings take place “every few minutes,” she and her husband, Paul, can watch several while out to eat.

During draw 2229315 on July 29, Antico matched eight of the 20 numbers drawn, according to an Aug. 14 news release. Because she played the Kicker option, her prize was multiplied to $100,000.

“We watched the drawing, and it was hard to believe what we were seeing,” Antico told Michigan Lottery officials while claiming her big win. “We started yelling and soon everyone in the place knew we’d won. We cashed out and took the ticket home and scanned it with the Lottery app. Seeing the confetti on the screen and the $100,000 prize amount was amazing!”

She and her husband claimed their winnings Aug. 10, but they still couldn’t believe it.

“Winning still hasn’t sunk in yet and probably won’t until I’ve got the money in the bank,” Antico said.

The couple plans to use the prize money to pay bills and renovate their home, according to the release.

Amore’s is in Chesterfield, part of the Detroit metropolitan area.
