What is Huski Chocolate? The story behind the Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericsson's sponsor

Marcus Ericsson's win at the Indianapolis 500 is especially sweet for a Swedish chocolate company.

Huski Chocolate, a Stockholm-based brand, joined the Chip Ganassi Racing team as Ericsson's primary sponsor in 2020.

It's origins stem from all-natural hot chocolate, born in the mountains of Sweden. Today, brewed from "a secret family recipe," Huski Chocolate has grown from serving skiers and mountaineers to race trailers of Formula 1, according to the company website.

For the Swedish driver, this year's Indy 500 win was his first ever.

During a wild 2022 race, the brand was cheering on their favorite Indy 500 driver. "5 laps to go, and then you can enjoy some chocolate," they said at one point.

The company also has another tie to racing. The CEO of Huski Chocolate Americas is NASCAR veteran and one-time INDYCAR driver Stanton Barrett.

In the post-race ceremony, despite his homeland ties to chocolate, Ericsson did not indulge in a sweetened beverage.
