Huskies celebrate homecoming with a win
ST. CLOUD — The St. Cloud State men's hockey team added to the homecoming cheer on campus with a 3-2 win against No. 2-ranked MSU-Mankato Friday night.
The Huskies are still perfect on the season at 5-0.
St. Cloud State scored first with a goal by Zach Okabe at 13:30 in the first period.
MSU-Mankato answered with two goals in the second, including one on the power play to take a 2-1 lead. St. Cloud State senior center Grant Cruikshank scored with assists from Okabe and Kyler Kupka with less than 2 minutes left in the period to bring the game to a 2-2 tie.
Kyler Kupka fired a shot past MSU-Mankato goaltender Keenan Rancier in the opening minute of the third period on a power play to give the Huskies a 3-2 lead.
St. Cloud State came into the game ranked No. 8 while MSU-Mankato is ranked No. 2 in the USA Today poll.
The teams will square off again tomorrow night at 6 p.m.
