Husky packs caught on camera roaming Ashford now up for adoption by Tacoma Humane Society

The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County has taken in a group of 14 husky dogs that were roaming around the city of Ashford, Washington, for more than a month. The pack of husky mixes has inflated the facility’s total number of canine residents to 184, in addition to over 400 other animals also in the organization’s care.

Residential surveillance cameras caught glimpses of the animals traveling together in the wilderness. Ashford residents also reported seeing the dogs wandering as a pack without food or shelter from humans.

The center is asking for the community’s help in finding outside homes for the dogs.

“Our kennels are completely full, and the animals keep flooding in,” the humane society said in a statement posted on Instagram Thursday.

Veterinarian staff feed and bathe the animals, as well as give medical diagnostics, vaccinations, spaying and medications.

“Not only does this take up every moment of our day, but the costs associated with this care are enormous,” the humane society stated. The News Tribune could not immediately reach the organization for additional comment.

The humane society is asking for help from the public to volunteer, donate food or funds or adopt or foster one of the husky dogs. Adopting and fostering the husky mixes will also to free up space for other animals in need that continue to come in.

“The need is constant, and we simply can’t help all these pets without your support.”

Here is how Tacomans and other Washingtonians can lend their support:

Donate:

You can make a monetary donation at the humane society’s Linktree page.

Foster:

This is especially important for animals that don’t do well in a shelter environment, recover from surgeries, were abandoned / strays or require additional care. If you are interested in fostering one of the huskies, fill out a dog foster inquiry form at the organization’s website.

Adopt:

Now until April 30, any person approved to adopt an adult dog, including one of the husky mixes, can name their own adoption price. Each adoption comes with a wellness examination from a veterinarian services team member, spaying or neutering the animal, having the animal microchipped, an initial vaccination and pet care counseling. To request to adopt an animal, fill out a dog adoption application at the organization’s website.
