Hutchinson bus maker sold for $303 million

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) – A division of Berkshire Hathaway has bought a Hutchinson bus maker.

Forest River Inc. has purchased Collins Bus. Collins is the largest manufacturer and the first to develop the Type A school bus, often called a short bus due to its smaller size.

Founded in 1967, Collins moved from Kansas City, Missouri, to Hutchinson in 1972. In 2006, they were American Industrial Partners, which became the REV Group.
