The public is invited to attend the next meeting of the Hutchinson Rotary Club at noon Monday in Stringer Fine Arts Center on the campus of Hutchinson Community College.

The guest speaker is Joshua Smith with J&J Drainage Products.

Smtih graduated from the University of Kansas in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Leadership. He went on to The University of Missouri-Kansas City for his MBA, graduated in 2016, with concentrations in Entrepreneurship & Global Business.

In grad school, Smith worked for Sprint Corporation in Overland Park as a Business Analyst in the Reverse Logistics organization. After grad school, he moved to Charleston, South Carolina, to work for Boeing as a Supply Chain Management Analyst, working directly with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777X production ramp-ups.

In 2019 he moved back to Hutchinson to work for my family owned business, J&J Drainage Products Co., where he serves as the Quality Control Manager and helps out with the Customer Service team as an Account Manager for several key customers.

J&J Drainage Products Co., as it’s known today, was established in 1946 as a small riveted culvert pipe manufacturing plant in Hutchinson. Originally a satellite company of Eaton Metal Products, the company was acquired in 1981 by the J&J Group in Paola, and the name was changed to J&J Drainage Products Co.

In 1992 J&J was sold to the management of the Hutchinson plant, and became a family-owned business. In 2005 significant investment in state-of-the-art equipment enabled J&J to broaden its manufacturing capabilities to meet the growing need for corrugated steel and spiral culvert pipe products. J&J ships products to all 50 states, along with Canada and Mexico.

"We offer the widest selection of Metal End Sections in the country, along with a comprehensive line of Corrugated Steel drainage products - all produced in our facilities in Hutchinson," Smith stated.
