Hyre CLC students find deceased 43-year-old woman in Hyre Park, foul play not suspected

A 43-year-old woman was found dead in Hyre Park, adjacent to Hyre CLC, by students walking to class Thursday morning, Akron Police Capt. Michael Miller said.

Police received a call at about 7:40 a.m. for a wellness check, Miller said. She was pronounced dead by officers who arrived on the scene. Foul play is not suspected.

Students who discovered the woman immediately notified the Hyre CLC School Resource Officer, according to an email from school administrators to parents.

The incident did not involve students in any way aside from finding and reporting the woman to police, the school explained.

"I want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority, and I wish to provide you with information and reassurance regarding the situation," the letter reads.

Increased security and counseling support were provided for students, staff and faculty, according to the letter.

The incident remains under investigation.
