Hyundai, Kia, and Nissan among recent vehicle recalls: Check if your vehicle is affected

Each year thousands of vehicles and pieces of vehicle equipment are recalled for either failing to comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard or for a safety-related defect.

According to an article from ABC News, the number of recalls has surged year after year. This can be attributed to the increasing complexity of vehicles as electric components make malfunctions more likely.

Here are some of the recently announced recalls from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and how you can check if your vehicle is affected.

Ford recalling 2023 Explorer vehicles

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2023 Explorer vehicles because the right-front lower fastener connecting the steering knuckle and strut may be loose or missing.

According to the NHTSA "a loose or missing connection between the knuckle and strut can cause improper tire alignment resulting in a steering pull or require increased steering effort. Additionally, the brake hose may contact the tire and become damaged, resulting in a brake fluid leak and a loss of braking ability."

Both of these scenarios could increase the potential of a crash.

Dealers will inspect the fasteners and either tighten or install them free of charge.
