IAEA adopts resolution urging Russia to withdraw troops from Zaporizhzhya NPP, says Reuters

The document was supported by 24 out of 35 countries, with only Russia and China voting against. Vietnam, India, Kenya, Namibia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and South Africa decided to abstain, and the delegations of Burundi and Libya did not participate in the vote.

According to the text of the resolution, the Board of Governors of the IAEA calls on the Russian Federation to “end all actions” at nuclear facilities in Ukraine. In addition, the Council calls on Russia to “immediately withdraw its military and other personnel from the (Zaporizhzhya) power plant.”

“(The Council) expresses serious concern that the Russian Federation has not heeded the Council’s calls to immediately cease all actions against and at nuclear facilities in Ukraine and requests that the Russian Federation do so immediately,” the text of the resolution reads.
