Ibero-American Action League seeks nominations for the 2023 Alicia Torres Award

Ibero-American Action League is seeking nominations for the 2023 Alicia Torres Award that will be granted at the advocacy group's upcoming luncheon.

The award recognizes individuals who show exemplary leadership in support of Rochester's Latino community and honors the memory of Torres.

Torres dedicated much of her life to seeing people in Rochester's Latino community thrive. Because of her, many events like the Puerto Rican Festival and other community activities are still successful, according to a news release from Ibero.

Torres "was always behind the scenes unselfishly donating her time to many individuals and community activities, as well as the agency, never wanting recognition for her achievements and dedication," the news release states

Know someone who should be given thanks for their hard work? The deadline for nominations ends Sept. 23 and submissions can be sent via email to iberoevents@iaal.org.
