Ice cream biz to open in Craft District, women’s primary care opens in west Olympia

SweetLee’s Ice Cream, which operates two food trucks and a pint stop, is aiming to open its first storefront in the second building at the Tumwater Craft District on Capitol Boulevard.

Co-owner Lea Lee said they are aiming for an Aug. 9 opening, which would make them the first of several tenants to open at that site. What does she like about the craft district? The area’s potential, Lee said.

SweetLee’s has been selling ice cream for more than two and a half years. One truck rotates among special events, while the other is a fixture on Harrison Avenue Northwest between Division Street and Cooper Point Road, next to the Green Lady marijuana retailer.

There’s also the Pint Stop in the Steamboat Island area, which sells pre-made and pre-packaged ice cream sandwiches, pints and single scoops.

What are the popular flavors? Salted cookies and cream, banana cream pie, lemon jam crumble (featuring berries from Johnson Berry Farm) and chocolate cookie surprise (featuring cookies from Cinnagirls). And for a limited time only, there’s the Elvis, made with peanut butter, bananas and bacon, Lee said.

The Pint Stop is at 6644 Sexton Road NW and is open 2-8 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Harrison Avenue truck is open 1-9 p.m. daily.
