This story about the expansion of Citizens & Southern Event Center's commissary kitchen went live at the beginning of the week. Now, in addition to being the home of Little Jennie's Baked Goods, the downtown event center hosts a second bakery, two pop-ups and a meal prep service.

And most recently, my story about downtown Cowpens' new hangout spot, Cowpens Coffee & Creamery posted. This family-owned business has 30+ flavors of ice cream (including dairy-free and no-sugar-added options), and a short, but highly-customizable coffee menu.

Reads for the weekend:

► Today, Juneteenth celebrations kick-off in downtown Spartanburg. There will be plenty of food and free, fun performances off Spring Street from 6-10 p.m. today at the Juneteenth Block Party and in Barnet Park from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. for the Juneteenth Festival tomorrow. New education and community reporter Joanna Johnson offers details on the weekend's festivities in the story linked below.

► Father's Day is Sunday and Dray Bar & Grill (1800 Drayton Rd.) has an option for families that want Dad to have his barbecue and eat it too.

The restaurant's Father's Day Steakout is June 19 from 5-8 p.m. Chefs will serve up diner's choice of slow-cooked BBQ pork or freshly grilled NY strip, salmon or shrimp skewers alongside picnic-favorite sides. Tickets to the event are $49 for adults, $42 for seniors, and $24 for children and are available on Eventbrite.
