Ice hockey: Vote now for Player of the Week

Ice Hockey Player of the Week poll

Last week, coaches nominated four athletes for The Journal News/lohud Player of the Week award.

Louie Marcellino, who had a hat trick as Pelham topped Skaneateles' 5-3 to end its 65-game winning streak, garnered 3,917 of 6,555 online votes cast to take the honor.

Mamaroneck goalie Max Baker was second with 1,914 votes.

This week, coaches have nominated seven athletes for their play Jan. 10-16.

Luke Golisano, Carmel

The senior forward, had a big game during the Rams' Senior Night, netting four goals and recording three assists in a 12-0 win over Monroe-Woodbury.

Scott MacDonald, John Jay-Cross River

The senior, who has played shutdown defense throughout the season, scored a shorthanded goal vs. No. 3 Rye. He also had three assists in a win over the BYSNS.

Ben Madden, Horace Greeley

The senior goalie had a big week while being besieged with shots over three games. He stopped 51 of 57 vs. Clarkstown, 39 of 42 in a 3-2 loss to No. 3 Rye and 38 of 40 in a win over Pearl River. He also recorded his fifth assist of the season in the Pearl River game.

Collin Nolan, Suffern

The senior defenseman was a force on D over two wins last week and also scored in both games. Nolan had a goal and two assists in a 7-1 win over No. 6 Mamaroneck and also had a goal and two assists in a 9-1 win over Scarsdale.

Daniel Ostrager, New Rochelle

The senior wing recorded two hat tricks and an assist for a total of seven points over two wins last week.

Nick Romeo, Clarkstown

The junior forward had six goals and six assists over three Clarkstown wins last week for a plus-11 rating.

Anabelle Thomas, Rye

The senior goalie, whose team moved to 10-0-1 after wins over Horace Greeley and John Jay-Cross River, had 49 saves over those two games for a huge .942 save percentage.
