Far Success Trading Limited has recalled several of its Gevi Household Countertop Nugget Ice Makers, which were sold exclusively on Amazon.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of approximately 8,800 ice makers on Thursday, warning of the product’s potential to cause lacerations.

The ice maker’s metal blades can break apart and fall into the product’s ice basket, mixing with the ice.

The recall only applies to Gevi ice makers with “the model number GIMN-1102 and a date code of before June 1, 2022,” which can be found on the machine’s product label, according to CPSC.

Has anyone been injured by the metal fragments?

Far Success Trading Limited has not received any reports of injuries caused by the metal fragments. The company received over 250 reports of the auger’s blades breaking and falling into the ice basket, per the CPSC.

What to do with the recalled ice maker

Consumers who have purchased the recalled model of the Gevi ice maker will be notified by Far Success Trading Limited. The company will provide a free replacement for consumers who contact them. Consumers will have to submit a photo of the ice maker’s product label.

In addition to information on receiving a replacement, consumers will receive instructions on how to disable the product before disposing of it.

Why is it important to disable recalled products?

Disabling the product will prevent it from being sold or used on the secondhand market. Selling a recalled product is illegal under the Consumer Product Safety Act, according to the CPSC.

Recalled products sold on the secondhand market can pose the same hazards for the unsuspecting consumers who purchased them.

What products sold on Amazon were recalled in October and September?

The Gevi ice maker is the latest in a line of products sold on Amazon that have been recalled in the last month.

On Thursday, YourHealthToolkit recalled almost 300 weighted children’s blankets, which were sold exclusively on Amazon. The blanket is an asphyxiation hazard for children if they crawl into the zippered portion of the blanket.

Over 6,000 Secura air fryers were recalled on Sept. 28 due to reports of the product overheating, burning and even catching fire, the Deseret News previously reported.

On Sept. 21, nearly 200 of the Honey Joy Infant Swings were recalled for violating the Safe Sleep for Babies Act by having an incline greater than 10 degrees.
