Ice storm forces Abilene colleges to move Thursday basketball games to Monday

Icy weather has forced Abilene universities to alter their basketball schedules.

The Abilene Christian women, who were scheduled to play Utah Valley on Thursday at Moody Coliseum, has rescheduled the game for 2 p.m. Monday at Moody.

Utah Valley (4-16, 1-8) is last in the Western Athletic Conference.

The Wildcats (10-10, 4-5) will still play Stephen F. Austin at 1 p.m. Saturday in a WAC game at Moody Coliseum.

SFA (17-4, 7-2) is tied with California Baptist for second in the WAC behind Southern Utah (12-7, 8-0).

Hardin-Simmons and McMurry also have rescheduled games.

HSU was scheduled to play at Ozarks on Thursday, while McMurry was playing at Texas-Dallas that night. Now, those games will be played on Monday, beginning with the women at 4 p.m.

HSU plays at Texas-Dallas on Saturday, while McMurry is at Ozarks. Both doubleheaders begin the women’s game at 1 p.m.

The HSU women (18-2, 13-0) lead the American Southwest Conference by three games over Mary Hardin-Baylor (14-5, 9-3) and Texas-Dallas (13-6, 9-3).

The Cowgirls, who have won 15 consecutive games, are ranked No. 8 in the D3hoops.com national poll. If they hold on to win the regular-season title, they will host the ASC tournament.

Texas-Dallas (16-3, 11-1) lead the ASC men’s race. HSU (13-6, 8-4) is fourth.

The McMurry men (6-13, 5-7) are seventh in the ASC, while the McMurry women (10-9, 4-9) are eighth.
