Ice-T and Honey Nut Cheerios sounds like a perfect pairing.

The Grammy Award-winning gangsta rap trailblazer-turned-primetime TV history maker has teamed up with the cereal brand to promote a healthy lifestyle for American Heart Month.

Honey Nut Cheerios’ animated mascot Buzz Bee (already seen in commercials with R&B crooner Usher and rapper Nelly) and Ice-T are serving as coaches for the company’s new campaign to remind Americans that getting heart-healthy tastes great and exercise can be fun.

Announced Wednesday, the “Pour Your Heart Into It” workout series encourages Americans to start to get their bodies moving and hearts thumping, alongside a delicious heart-healthy bowl of Cheerios.

“This stuff doesn’t have to be hard,” Ice-T said with the announcement. “It can be as simple as a bowl of Cheerios and a walk around the block.”

To promote the message, the whole grain oats-made cereal brand brought back its happy heart shapes for the third year in limited-edition boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios and yellow-box original Cheerios, as well as its Apple Cinnamon, Chocolate and new Strawberry Banana flavors.

The 63-year-old Ice-T (whose given name is Tracy Lauren Morrow) will also appear in TV and online ads.

Cheerios is also by giving away a free (with proof of purchase) cereal snack bowl from S’well as part of the brand’s American Heart Month effort through its website www.HappyHeartsCheerios.com.
