Ice Vols to host Ole Miss in two-game series

Tennessee will return to action Friday.

The Ice Vols open a two-game South Eastern Hockey Conference series against Ole Miss Friday at 10:45 p.m. EDT at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.

The series opener against the Rebels will follow the 2021-22 season opener for the Southern Professional Hockey League’s Knoxville Ice Bears.

The Ice Bears are celebrating their 20th anniversary this season and will have a birthday party for the franchise with several promotions before and during the game against Macon.

The Ice Vols, who enter Friday’s contest on the heels of three consecutive wins over Florida and South Carolina, swept their first home series against the Gamecocks last season.

The Ice Vols (3-3) were victorious in their last game, notching a 4-3 overtime victory over South Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 10 as Drew King scored the game-winning goal in overtime.

King has two overtime game-winning markers this season.

The Ice Vols and Rebels will conclude their series Sunday with opening faceoff slated for 2:30 p.m. EDT.
