Iconic Colorado hiking trail needs rebuilt

MINTURN, Colo. (KREX) — The National Forest Foundation is looking for a contractor to rebuild the Hanging Lake Trail.

The Grizzly Creek Fire originally damaged the trail in 2021 by sweeping away bridges and covering the trails with downed trees. The trail was damaged again this spring from snow melt.

Now, the White River National Forest Service has issued a request for proposals to reconstruct the Hanging Lake Trail and ensure the long-term sustainability of the site.
