The Girl with the Pearl Earring has lived to see another day.

Johannes Vermeer’s iconic painting ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ is back on display at The Hague’s Mauritshuis museum after being targeted by anti-oil environmentalists in the Netherlands.

A museum visitor posted a video on Twitter showing one man pouring a can of a red substance over another protester, who appeared to try to glue his head to the artwork. Three unidentified people were arrested for “public violence against property.”

The 1665 oil painting, is protected by glass and was not damaged.

“We are incredibly grateful that ‘The Girl’ remained undamaged and is back in her familiar place so quickly. So that our visitors from all over the world can admire her again, which is what art is for,” the museum said in a statement on its website.

Other historical artworks have recently been targeted by climate protesters.

Earlier this month, “Grainstacks,” a $110 million painting by French Impressionist Claude Monet had mashed potatoes pelted at it while on display at Museum Barberini in Potsdam, Germany.

Two women were arrested for throwing soup over Vincent van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” at London’s National Gallery.

Neither of the paintings were damaged.
