The Iconic Las Vegas Chapel Where Britney Spears Got Hitched Is for Sale

The Las Vegas landmark where numerous celebrities have tied the knot is up for sale for the first time in 68 years. Now on the market for $12 million, A Little White Chapel is where Britney Spears embarked on her infamous 55-hour marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander, and where Judy Garland and her fourth husband, Mark Herron; Michael Jordan and Juanita Vanoy; Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow; Bruce Willis and Demi Moore; and more famous couples all said, "I do."

“At [this] listing price with an established business and global name recognition, I feel this is an amazing value,” realtor Steve Khalilzadegan of Savi Realty said in a press release. “It is a rarity to have such a truly iconic Las Vegas landmark come to market.” The chapel has been owned and operated by Charlotte Richards for the past 68 years. "It’s been a wonderful time, but it’s someone else’s turn," Richards said in a statement to Fox 5 Vegas. "I need to slow down and let someone else take over.”

Under her guidance, A Little White Chapel has expanded tremendously in both size and scope over the last few decades. When she first bought it for $50,000 in 1951, it consisted of a single room that also functioned as a bedroom, living room, and kitchen. Now, however, the chapel includes a flower shop, gazebo, on-site gown and tuxedo rentals, music and entertainment available via Elvis impersonators, and even a drive-through chapel, the first of its kind, known as the “Tunnel of Love.”

Weddings can be hosted in any of five different chapels within the facility. Richards has officiated a great many of the nearly one million ceremonies that have taken place there, and over the years the building itself has become as famous as the celebrities who have visited it. The chapel has been featured on TV shows such as ABC’s The Bachelorette and the History Channel’s Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy, as well as in films such as 2009’s The Hangover. Asked what she’s hoping to do next, Richards told Fox 5 Vegas that she hopes to travel the world and take it easy—though she wouldn’t rule out officiating a wedding or two every once in a while.
