The U.S. Postal Service is celebrating one of Oklahoma City's most iconic landmarks in a new set of stamps.

The Skydance Bridge, OKC's sculptural pedestrian bridge over Interstate 40, is one of four bridges from around the United States highlighted in a new series of stamps

The stamps will be available nationwide on Aug. 24.

The bridges featured on the stamps span a range of styles, from contemporary to historical, and serve various purposes — from pedestrian crossings to vehicular transport connections.

The Skydance Bridge, designed by architect Hans Butzer and artist Seward Johnson, is a 197-foot-tall sculpture inspired by Oklahoma’s state bird, the scissor-tailed flycatcher.

The stamps were designed by art director Ethel Kessler using existing photographs of the bridges. The intention behind these stamps is to cater to bulk mail users, and as such, they will be issued in coil formats.

The Presorted First-Class Mail rate stamps, valued at 25 cents, will come in four distinct designs and be available in two coil sizes — 3,000 stamps (Item 751600) and 10,000 stamps (Item 761800).
