Iconic Elephant Car Wash sign to be considered for landmark status

Seattle’s Landmarks Preservation Board will consider the iconic Elephant Car Wash sign for landmark status, the city announced in a media release Wednesday.

The Elephant Car Wash was previously located at 6th and Battery before permanently closing their doors in 2020.

The public can attend the meeting in person at the Board & Commission Room of Seattle City Hall located at 600 Fourth Ave.

The meeting can also be accessed online or through a telephone call-in line provided in the agenda that will be posted to the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods website one week prior to the meeting.

Online sign-up will begin two hours before the 3:30 p.m. meeting.

The public will have up to two minutes to make comments regarding the nomination.
