In Charlotte, North Carolina, Brooke Light is a photographer on a mission to show young people, particularly girls, that they don’t have to smile in front of the camera. Instead, she teaches that they're enough just the way they are. “At the end of the day, we love a smiling happy picture, but you're gonna remember your kids in the hoodie that they never took off and them being in moods,” Light said. “Them looking off into space and just being themselves. That's the version of our kids that we remember.” In Austin, Texas, Tammy Ramsey was playing “Bowl of Nouns” with her son Drew Crenweldge when he began miming a pregnant belly and pointing to his wife, Carla.“Rocket, ice, Carla, girl, J-Lo," Ramsey guessed, before exclaiming "Pregnant?!” as the penny dropped that she's a grandma-to-be.In Ithaca, New York, Rose Cochran is a full-time hairstylist and proud Butterfly Lady. Cochran has housed over 300 butterflies in her salon and is determined to publicize ways to save the endangered Monarch butterfly.“All we can ever do is try. I'm not gonna give up.," she says. "And I think that's how a lot of us are with life. You just can't give up. And I'm not gonna give up on the monarchs.”Golden Retrievers are equally adored by many dog owners. And in the Scottish Highlands, hundreds of golden retrievers were gathered to celebrate the breed’s 155th anniversary. The event was attended by dogs and owners from 12 countries and included talks, training sessions, a picnic, and a toast to the Golden Retriever’s founding father, Lord Tweedmouth. Last but not least, a moving story from Texas involved six-year-old Carson and his best friend and grandpa, James Conley. Carson is the only boy in his extended family and has a single mom, so he and his grandpa share a tight male bond. So, when James drove all the way from North Carolina for a visit it was a special moment. And it only got better for Carson when his grandpa revealed that he'd be staying for good!
