ICYMI: Surprise proposals, pregnancy reveals, military homecomings and more

This week, Humankind featured a surprise wedding gesture, a pregnancy reveal, a military homecoming, a graduation achievement, and a marriage proposal.

When Amy Walkinshaw married her fiancé Ryan in Colchester, England, she knew she wanted her father, Andy Collins, and her stepdad, Jeff Bennett, to be part of her special day. So, with friends and family assembled, Amy's dad pulled her stepdad out of the congregation so they could both walk her down the aisle together. In Savannah, Georgia, U.S. Army Sergeant Alan Pipkin and his wife, Haley, had been trying for a baby for almost six years. But despite numerous fertility treatments, they had no luck. However, after going through a 12-day "superovulation" procedure, Haley was finally able to conceive, enabling her to surprise her husband with the news when he came home from work. Meantime, athletic trainer, Jamie Langford McQueen, got a shock of her own during a blindfolded gift-wrapping competition at halftime of a high school basketball game. When she peeled off her blindfold, her twin brother, John Tyson Langford, was standing there, having returned home from a two-year Army deployment overseas. The reunion with Jamie and her family was emotional.

And speaking of emotions, there were plenty on hand at Javier Hilario's graduation ceremony. Hilario suffered a brain aneurysm at the age of 16, which initially left him unable to walk or move his right arm. But he vowed to stand on his own two feet for graduation and did just that.

Finally, to Yankee Stadium in New York City, where Ray Garfield hit a home run in the stands. That's because just as a firework display lit up the skyline, he took a knee and asked his girlfriend to marry him. And she made his night by saying yes!

Watch below as a dad and stepdad walk their daughter down the aisle, a soldier’s wife announces she’s pregnant, a military brother comes home, a high school student gets to walk for graduation, and a man proposes to his girlfriend at a Yankee’s game.
