ID Kits will be given to parents of kindergarten students as a tool for finding missing children
Free child ID kits will be distributed to parents of kindergarten students in Florida, according to Attorney General Ashley Moody.

The kits will be used to assist law enforcement in finding missing children.
Moody said that the goal with these kits is to make it easier for parents or guardians to collect identifying information on cards that will be kept at home in case it’s ever needed.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reports that more than 25,000 incidents of missing children were reported to Florida law enforcement agencies last year.

According to the National Child Identification Program, more than 800,000 children go missing each year in the U.S. — one every 40 seconds.
About 250,000 kits will be provided to all Florida school districts for distribution to public, private and charter schools for the parents of kindergarten students.
