Idaho State Police investigators are looking into a single-vehicle crash that sent eight people to the hospital over the weekend.

A 2010 GMC Canyon pickup drove off North Pine-Featherville Road in Elmore County on Sunday night and descended about 100 feet over an embankment, according to a news release. The crash was south of Pine.

All eight of the pickup’s occupants, five adults and three juveniles, were transported to local hospitals by helicopter, police said. The driver and one of the passengers, both adult males, had serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to the release.

No one in the truck was wearing a seat belt, police said.

ISP troopers said they were dispatched to the scene at around 8 p.m. to assist Elmore County sheriff’s deputies, and were asked to handle the investigation because of the severity of the injuries.

The crash closed down N. Pine-Featherville Road for several hours during the investigation and so the vehicle could be recovered, police said.
