247 Sports: Washington State huge favorite vs. Idaho

It writes: "Idaho is back on the WSU football schedule. The Cougars open the 2022 campaign with the first meeting in the series since 2016. The game will mark the 93rd meeting all time, with the Cougars holding a 72-17-3 advantage and riding a nine-game winning streak. There are 19 players on the Idaho roster who hail from Washington including Carter Carlson, a former walk-on edge defender at WSU. Jason Eck is the new Idaho coach, replacing Paul Petrino who was let go at the end of last season (Petrino is now the offensive coordinator at Central Michigan). Meanwhile, David Lose, a former GA and quality control coach with the Cougs for six seasons is a Vandal defensive line coach, and Stanley Franks, Idaho's cornerbacks coach, is a former defensive quality control coach at WSU. Idaho is coming off a 4-7 record this past season out of the Big Sky conference."

College Football News: Washington State will beat Idaho in opener

Pete Fiutak writes: "The Pac-12 is far better when Washington State is doing Washington State things with a high-powered offense rolling in high-scoring games, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen this year. The conference needs a good Wazzu in this current expansion climate, and it’s about to get it."

Sports Chat Place: Go with Washington State vs. Idaho

Randy Chambers writes: "The Washington State Cougars lost a lot of production on the defensive side of the ball and some key playmakers on offense. There’s a bit of a shakeup here. However, Ward at quarterback gives Washington State a fighting chance to seriously compete this season, as he’s an electric playmaker and gives the Cougars serious upside."

Spokesman-Review: Washington State 45, Idaho 10

Colton Clark writes: "After a five-year hiatus, the Battle of the Palouse is back. The border neighbors are both led by first-year coaches in Dickert and Jason Eck, who were coworkers at a couple of past coaching stops. That adds intrigue to a farmland feud that has been largely uninteresting over the past two decades – the Cougs have outscored the Vandals 396-99 overall in nine straight wins. WSU will be a heavy favorite over Idaho, which dropped down to the FCS level in 2018."
