Idalia staying to the west and north, but dangerous winds still to come

Aug. 30—Hurricane Idalia has shifted in the Golden Isles' favor but the worst impacts are still ahead for Glynn County, emergency management officials said at a 12:30 p.m. update.

The 11 a.m. update from the National Hurricane Center showed the storm's track moving farther north, which could lessen the impacts slightly for Glynn County as the storm passes to the county's west. Previous tracks showed the storm turning east earlier in its path and passing directly over Glynn County.
