Ikea recalls almost 40,000 mirrors that go on walls. Some didn’t stay there

Mirrors that go on the wall should not fall, which is why Ikea’s recalled about 39,900 of their Lettan model mirrors in the United States and Canada.

“The plastic fittings that attach the mirror to the wall can break, causing the mirror to fall, posing a laceration hazard to consumers,” the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice explains.

And, the notice says, Ikea knows about this happening 55 times globally and once in the United States. Nobody has been injured yet.

This covers the Lettan models, which are frameless, 38 inches high and sold in widths of 47, 39, 31 and 23 inches. There’s a four-digit date stamp on the back with the first two digits being the year and the last two being the week it was made. This recall involves all date stamps up to and including 2105.
