Ikea and Sonos Reveal The Newest Symfonisk WiFi Speaker and Picture Frame That Can Be Hung On The Wall

Ikea and Sonos are teaming up once again to bring us another innovative product. Their latest venture is the Symfonisk picture frame WiFi speaker that can hang on your wall as a piece of artwork. The newest Symfonisk product, priced at $199, will be available on July 15, 2021, in Ikea stores and via Ikea.com in Europe and North America (with other regions to follow at a later date).

Despite its description, this uniquely crafted product is not quite a picture frame per se, but more like a work of living room wall art with interchangeable faces that can be swapped out for other colors and designs. When the cover is removed, the speakers can be revealed beneath. It’s almost like an audio version of Samsung’s Frame, a digital art frame and TV hybrid.

“The space-saving picture frame speaker can hang on its own on the wall as an eye-catching art piece, be matched with other art on the wall, be placed on a shelf or on the floor, leaning against the wall. The interchangeable fronts make it easy to choose a style that suits your individual home”, Stjepan Begic, product developer at Ikea of Sweden, said in a recent blog post.

Once connected to WiFi, the Symfonisk picture frame speaker can be used alone or in conjunction with other products from the Symfonisk or Sonos ecosystem. With Sonos, listeners are privy to over 100 different streaming services.

This latest project is part of a larger collaboration between Ikea and Sonos that began a few years back with the release of the original Symfonisk speaker range in 2019. The initial release offered the Ikea bookshelf speaker and a table lamp speaker.
