The Las Vegas-based comedian told The Enquirer that his stand-up material is often inspired by his family, his identity as being biracial (Black and Korean) and his battle with the COVID-19 virus. Yo said he was one of the earliest contractors of COVID-19, having been hospitalized from the deadly virus March 17, 2020. According to the comedian, he was unsure if he would survive.

Fortunately, Yo recovered and used his experience as a muse for his stand-up comedy special "I Never Thought, " released exactly two years after his COVID-19 battle.

"To find laughter in it and to find those funny moments, it was very special to me," Yo said. "After I recovered from the hospital, I was like, 'Everything I do moving forward, I'm gonna bet on myself ... I'm not gonna let another outlet tell me my worth. I'm gonna let the real people tell me my worth.'"
