Illini Basketball: Latest bracketology update for Illinois Fighting Illini
As the college basketball season comes to a close, all eyes are on the NCAA Tournament. For Illinois Fighting Illini fans, the hope is for a high seed for an easier path to National Title.
The Illini had a strong start to their season, but are now projected as a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament according to Bracket Matrix, an aggregate of bracket projections.
The Illini have gone 19-10 (10-8 Big Ten) this season, however, they did recently take a hit after going 3-4 during the month of February. The loss to Ohio State dropped them a few lines in bracket projections but they still remain firmly in the field of 68 teams being projected for March Madness.
Many major media bracketologists now have Illinois on the 8-9 line; not far from where they originally held their 7 seed position in the Bracket Matrix.
The Fighting Illini will look to continue to build their resume as they face both Purdue and Michigan this week. With all these games left, and the Big Ten tournament on their schedule it is still up in the air where exactly their spot will be when Selection Sunday rolls around.
