Illinois bridge phase metrics: Daily updates on trends in coronavirus cases, deaths, hospitalizations and vaccinations — and progress toward full reopening
With Chicago and Illinois moving into phase 5, the Tribune is no longer updating this data. If the state moves back into bridge phase, the Tribune we reassess. Daily metrics on COVID-19, like cases, deaths and hospitalizations, can be found here. And Daily metrics on the vaccination effort can be found here. More on where the coronavirus stands nationally and around the world can be found here.
With the state on the cusp of the bridge phase — a set of loosened COVID-19 restrictions allowing more capacity in restaurants, shops and other venues as well as other steps toward reopening — Illinois health officials are tracking statewide metrics to make sure the outbreak is held in check.
If new coronavirus deaths and cases are held low, if hospitalizations remain low and if vaccinations continue to increase the state could move into phase five — full reopening with no restrictions.
Should metrics go in the opposite direction and the outbreak worsens, the state could stay in bridge phase or even revert to phase four where mitigations are managed by region.
Here is a look at what is allowed and not allowed during the bridge phase: From restaurants to gyms to baseball games, conventions and concerts.
