Mendoza cancelled a number of events, including a scheduled address to the City Club of Chicago Tuesday.

That's been rescheduled for Sept. 14.
Mendoza encouraged the public to stay up to date on COVID vaccinations and boosters "to be best protected from developing serious or life-threatening symptoms."
The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention announced revised guidelines in August, reducing the time spent quarantining after a positive test. The CDC now recommends those who test positive isolate for five days.
After that, individuals can leave their homes but are asked to wear a mask indoors for five more days.
Mendoza is the latest Illinois leader to test positive for the virus.
Gov. JB Pritzker tested positive for the virus in mid-July and Secretary of State Jesse White also tested positive on Aug. 25.
U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin of Springfield was sidelined by COVID in late July.
I tested positive for COVID-19 today. I'm vaxxed and boosted and thankful to be experiencing just mild symptoms. This means I must cancel a full schedule of events, including an important address about Illinois’ finances I was scheduled to deliver to the City Club... #twill
