Illinois driver services facilities set to reopen Monday after COVID closure

The state driver services facility at 3720 East State St. in Rockford, along with other driver services offices in Illinois, are implementing programs to reduce wait lines.

All Illinois Secretary of State departments, including driver services, will reopen for in-person transactions on Monday.

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White first closed the offices Jan. 3 due to the surge in positive COVID-19 cases across the region. He announced last week that service facilities would remain closed for in-person transactions until Tuesday but moved the reopening up a day with Thursday's announcement.

Patrons will be required to wear masks and practice social distancing when inside a facility.

“The health and safety of employees and the public is our top priority,” White said in a news release. “Masks and social distancing will be required as we safely reopen all offices and driver services facilities.”

The closure affected all driver services facilities in the state, including those in Rockford, Roscoe and Belvidere.
