Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The governor's press team sent out a release Tuesday morning which said the governor tested positive after being notified of several close contacts.

"I've tested positive for COVID-19 and am experiencing mild symptoms," the governor said on Twitter.

Pritzker will follow CDC guidelines and work from home until he is feeling better. The governor is fully vaccinated and double boosted, according to his press office.

Last week, the governor signed an updated executive order that amends testing requirements for some unvaccinated health care employees and removes mandates for some other industries, including schools.

The governor continues to urge all Illinoisans to continue following CDC guidance, utilize anti-viral treatments, and get all available boosters. Anyone six months and older is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. To find a vaccine site near you, go to https://www.vaccines.gov/.
