Illinois man dies in one-vehicle crash in Richland County
Troopers are still investigating what caused a one-car fatal wreck Friday morning in Richland County.
Mark Ricketts, 67, Decatur, Illinois, was found unresponsive on I-71 in Perry Township, according to a news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol.
The crash is believed to have happened sometime between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday, a dispatcher confirmed to the News Journal.
Ricketts was driving his blue 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe southbound on I-71 when he traveled off the right side of the road and hit an embankment and guardrail before coming to rest, the news release states, the patrol said.
When first responders arrived, Ricketts was not responsive. He was transported to OhioHealth Mansfieldwhere he was pronounced dead.
Troy Township Fire and EMS and Shelly Smith Towing assisted at the scene.
