Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White tests positive for the coronavirus

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, his office confirmed on Thursday.

Double vaccinated and boosted, White is experiencing mild symptoms but plans to continue working as he quarantines from home, according to his office.

The outgoing secretary's diagnosis comes after the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention announced revised guidelines earlier this month, reducing the time spent quarantining after a positive test. The CDC now recommends those that test positive to isolate for five days.

After that, individuals can leave their homes but are asked to wear a mask indoors for five more days.
