Illinois woman found dead after crash into Collier Canal
A woman drove her car off Interstate 75, crashed into a wire fence and entered a canal, where she died Monday.
The 21-year-old from Woodstock, Illinois, was driving north on the interstate north of Pine Ridge Road before she entered the grass shoulder and eventually a canal, Florida Highway Patrol troopers report. Her car sunk, and she was pronounced dead on the scene around 12:25 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
At least 31 people have died in Collier County crashes this year.
