The official media channels for the production announced Fletcher’s role in the musical, with sister-in-law Carrie Hope Fletcher responding to the post on Instagram, writing: “YES YES YES!!!” Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden, who partnered Giovanna’s husband Tom on the show, also congratulated her on the role with several emojis.

The musical, which debuted in 2017, follows 16-year-old Jamie New as he battles bullying and prejudice to fulfil his dream of becoming a drag queen. A feature film adaptation, which starred Max Harwood and Sarah Lancashire, was released by Amazon Studios in 2021, with Sharon Horgan playing Miss Hedge.

Fletcher’s dates for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie are:

Southampton, Mayflower Theatre: January 9-14

Newcastle, Theatre Royal: January 16-20

Fletcher was Queen of the Jungle – or Castle – following her triumph in the 2020 edition of I’m a Celebrity, which was filmed in Wales due to COVID-19 restrictions. The latest series similarly took place outside the usual base of Australia, with the All-Stars edition relocating to South Africa.

In a hotly-contested series, which contained former winners and icons from the show’s past, Myleene Klass emerged victorious to become the first "legendary” contestant.

I'm a Celebrity… is tipped to return later this year on ITV1 and ITVX.
