Imes named Indiana All-Star

Apr. 4—Every high school basketball player in Indiana dreams of becoming an Indiana All-Star one day.

Zionsville senior Logan Imes has now made that dream a reality.

Imes was named to the 13-player team on Tuesday morning, and will be on the Indiana All-Star team in June.

"It's a great accomplishment," Imes said. "I am extremely grateful that I was one of the 13 players selected. It's a nice feeling and I have put in a lot of work over the last four years and even longer than that. It is nice that it is paying off and I can get recognition like this. I am grateful for my teammates and family that have helped me get there. I was a nice feeling for sure."

Imes is just the third boys player in Zionsville history to become an All-Star, joining Derrik Smits (2015) and Isaiah Thompson (2019).

Imes moved to Zionsville when he was 5 and followed the Eagles' program growing up. Being able to add to that legacy is something he is extremely proud of.

"It's just a big honor," Imes said. "I have lived here since I was five years old and the last four years have been an honor to represent the community. To do it again with the All-Stars and represent Zionsville — that's special for me."

The Indiana All-Stars will face the Junior All-Stars on June 7, before facing the Kentucky All-Stars on June 9 in Kentucky and June 10 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Imes had some experience with All-Star week last year as a Core-6 member of the Junior All-Stars.

He said he is excited to play with the seniors this year and notes the amount of talent the team has this year.

"It's a honor to play with those guys," Imes said. "The talent level that is going to be on the floor playing with those guys getting to represent our state — that's what I'm most excited about. Luke Almodovar (Noblesville) had our number the last three or four times we played, so it will be fun to play with him. And guys I played with on last year's all-star team — Markus Burton who obviously got us pretty good this year, Zane Doughty, Myles Colvin, Joey Hart — all those guys are going to be awesome to play with."

Imes averaged 16.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game this year.

Imes averaged 19.6 points and 6.2 rebounds over the final 13 games, helping the Eagles reach the sectional title game.

"I know I didn't have the best start to the season, but to bounce back the way I did and finish the way I did — it's a testament to sticking with it," Imes said. "My teammates and coaches believed in me, I just had to get there myself. It's a good feeling to know that I had those capabilities and I was able to show it. I just kept playing my way and believed in myself that I could be the player I wanted to be."

Imes had been signed with Penn State, but when head coach Micah Shrewsbury became the head coach at Notre Dame, Imes was released from his NLI and re-opened his recruitment.

He said he has heard from 5-6 schools since then and hopes to have a decision within the next few weeks.

"I want to keep all my options open and I'm not trying to be narrow minded," Imes said. "It's been a whirlwind the last couple of weeks. I had committed early, so for a year I was going to one place and you kind of get immersed in all that and the school and then it changes. It's been stressful, but it's a new opportunity and I am going to do what's best for me."

Imes finished his high school career with 1,091 points, 363 rebounds, 228 assists and 87 steals.

He said he will leave Zionsville with a lot of fond memories.

"Some of the things we accomplished as a team are pretty special," Imes said. "Being the first Zionsville team to play in the Sectional 8 championship — and if a couple more shots fall or we play a little tighter defense we could have been sectional champs. I will look back on the memories I had with my teammates is what I'll remember. I love basketball and I love being in the gym every day, but the relationships you have with your coaches and teammates — I have made lifelong friendships that I will never forget. That's probably the most important thing to me is being to experience things and have time with all those guys. They all have a special spot in my heart."
