CORRECTED-IMF says team to meet with economic advisers for Argentina president, opposition candidate

(Corrects first sentence to say IMF will be meeting with the economic advisers to presidential candidates, not with the candidates themselves)

BUENOS AIRES, Aug 23 (Reuters) - The International Monetary Fund said on Friday that a team will meet with the economic advisers to the country's main presidential candidates to exchange views.

The team is due to arrive in Argentina on Saturday, the IMF said in a statement, and will discuss the "recent economic and financial developments" and the government's policy plans.

President Mauricio Macri will seek re-election in October, but was trounced in the primary election on Aug. 11 by opposition candidate and main challenger Alberto Fernandez. (Reporting by Cassandra Garrison; Editing by Richard Chang)
