Immel siblings lead Norwalk at Carnival

Sep. 11—TIFFIN — Behind a pair of top 15 finishes from two siblings, the Norwalk girls cross country team placed eighth on Saturday in the 19-team field at the prestigious Tiffin Carnival at Hedges-Boyer Park.

Freshman Xavia Immel finished in 12th overall in 19:52, and sophomore Zuri Immel was 15th in 19:57. Isabel Ott was 36th in 20:57 for the Truckers, while Kylie Moser was 66th in 22:02.

Rounding out scoring for the Truckers was Maddison Trenor in 122nd (22:47), Kayli Bergman (24:47) in 125th and Addison Daniels (25:21) in 129th.

In the boys race, freshman Casey Kromer was 58th in 17:07 as the top finisher for Norwalk. Max Bores (18:25) was 127th and Landen Knoll (19:52) was 166th. Also for Truckers, who placed 28th, Owen Wagner (21:31) was 187th, followed closely by Wesley Shupe (21:37) in 188th.

In the girls "B" race, Melody Seager was Norwalk's top finisher was 80th in 25:53. Emma Romell was 85th (26:33), Alexa Garcia (30:40) was 101st and Hailee Smith (33:45) was 105th.

Kynan Sparks was 106th in 20:33 in the Div. I boys race for Norwalk. Anthony Hall was 126th (21:49), followed by Michael Lucas (22:26) in 133rd, Isaak White (23:46) in 136th and Landon Selka (24:10) in 138th. The Truckers finished 21st as a team in the race.

In the boys open race, Aidan Adkins was 274th in 22:53 for the Truckers, while Noah Smith (24:09) was 321st and Aidan Roberts (27:51) was 380th.

"We are nursing a few injuries on both the boys team and the girls team, so I am very happy with how the kids ran today," Norwalk head coach Stephanie Pope said. "They all pushed hard and tackled all the hills with lots of heart.

"This was definitely the biggest and longest meet we've been to this year, so I am very excited to see what they can do as we get later in the season."

Norwalk is at the Galion Festival on Saturday (Sept. 17) before hosting its own Invitational on Sept. 24 at NHS.
