Immigrants’ Assistance Center, Inc. elects annual officers and three new board members

NEW BEDFORD – The newly elected Immigrants’ Assistance Center Board members bring a diverse set of experience.

Elected on July 12 at the center’s 52nd annual meeting, they are Derek Mendes, a Health Information Management Supervisor at the Greater New Bedford Community Health Center; António R. Lima, a Chief Probation Officer; and Laurie Bullard, now retired, an experienced non-profit developer.

Also elected as IAC officers were Laurie Bullard, as chair; Rosemary Neto Hazzard, President of Neto Insurance, Inc. and daughter of IAC’s founding member Manuel Fernando Neto, as vice-chair; Anne Broholm, CEO of Ahead Manufacturing, as treasurer; and Jennifer Velarde, Immigration Attorney, as clerk.

Additional Board members include Anna Smith, Jeffrey Pelletier, Dr. Bob Caldas, Taylor DeLoach, Robyn Branco, and Gus Araujo.

Helena da Silva Hughes remains as IAC’s president and CEO.
