Important 2024 election dates

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — 2024 is an election year, which means plenty of dates to keep track of. Here’s a rundown of the ones you’ll need to know.

Feb. 12

Colorado voters will begin receiving their ballots for the presidential primary election.

Feb. 16

The last day to affiliate with the Republican Party or Democratic Party to vote in the March 9 party precinct caucuses.

March 5

Presidential primary election. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Unaffiliated voters can choose to vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary elections, but not both.

March 5-9

Republican Party and Democratic Party precinct caucus days. Information on Colorado’s caucuses by county can be found here for the Democratic Party and here for the Republican Party.

June 3-7

Ballots for the June 25 primary election will be mailed to voters. Unaffiliated voters can choose to vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary elections, but not both.

June 17

Last day for voters to submit a voter registration application and still receive a ballot in the mail for the June 25 primary election. Check the status of your registration on the Secretary of State’s website.

June 25

Primary election. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

July 15-18

The Republican National Convention takes place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Aug. 19-22

The Democratic National Convention takes place in Chicago, Illinois.

Oct. 14-18

Ballots for the 2024 general election will be mailed to voters.

Nov. 5

General election. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
