An ‘impossumable theft’: Tiff’s Treats box stolen off porch by opossum
AUSTIN (KXAN) — This was not your typical porch pirate, but this little thief proves porch pirates come in all shapes, sizes, and even species!
On Jan. 27, a front door surveillance camera in Southlake, Texas, picked up on the movement of an opossum dragging off a box of cookies from Austin-based Tiff’s Treats.
The Southlake Department of Public Safety released the video of the marsupial dragging off the late-night birthday delivery saying the opossum just could not help itself.
Authorities said the young man, who turned 15, eventually discovered icing and a balloon but no cookies. However, the empty cookie box turned up in the yard, leading them to check the surveillance cameras.
“The gift came a little late in the evening when the fam was probably out celebrating, so it went unnoticed into the night…which set up a seemingly impossumable theft,” SDPS said.
Tiff’s Treats saw the video and offered to replace the cookies for free. They added — “That porch bandit is kinda cute though!”
