Incoming 'Bachelor' Zach Shallcross Has an Unforgivable Taste in Breakfast Foods

Can I vote him off before he even begins?

Recently announced Bachelor-to-be Zach Shallcross sat down with Jennifer Hudson for his first TV interview today, Sept. 13, and there were some things he probably should have kept to himself—like his penchant for pancakes with a certain cookout-worthy condiment.

The former Bachelorette contestant is described as an "old-fashioned romantic” with “a huge heart that he is so ready to share forever with the right woman,” but it may take some convincing after this revelation.

"What's a weird food combination that you like?" Hudson read off of her flashcards, already looking nervous for the answer before Shallcross could even open his mouth.

"Okay, so, I have a really weird food combo and I heard you do, as well," Shallcross said, trying to deflect the attention.

"Mmmm, let me see." Hudson laughed. "What you got?"

"I grew up—from my grandma, teaching us—to do, uh, mustard on pancakes," he revealed, to much chatter from the crowd.

"That is interesting," Hudson said.

"Hear me out," he encouraged her, and she agreed that she was listening.

"It's very odd," he admitted. "But everyone who's ever tried it said, 'It kind of makes sense.'"

It's not very convincing, especially as he went on to explain how there's also still syrup on the pancake when he adds mustard. "It's like a weird thing where it's sweet and savory...on a pancake."

"So you have the syrup and the mustard on the pancake," Hudson confirmed, looking a little shocked.

"I don't do it like daily or anything," Shallcross laughed. "But I have done it quite a few times as a kid, yeah."

Hudson then shared that she loves mustard on everything, but wasn't so sure about this one. She agreed to try it, given Shallcross' persistence, but certainly, nobody would blame her if that was just a nicety.
