Three incumbents, one newcomer win seats in crowded 8-person race for Appleton School Board

After a crowded campaign field, all three incumbents in the Appleton school board race were reelected.

Challenger Pheng Thao received the most votes with 8,427. James Bacon received the second most with a little over 7,724. Having received the highest two amounts of votes, they have each earned three-year terms.

The third-and fourth-place finishers, Jim Bowman and Deb Truyman, earned one-year terms — a result of two board members resigning in 2021. They will essentially complete the terms of those former board members.

Challengers Andrea Klitzke, Jason Kolpack, Nick Ross and Mike Schinke did not receive enough votes to make it onto the board.

Neenah School Board election results

Over 9,000 votes were cast in Winnebago County for the Neenah Joint School District School Board race.

Lauri Asbury was reelected to earn one of the three open seats while Sarah Moore-Nokes and Tara Brzezinski won the other two.

Asbury received the most votes with just over 3,900, but the race was otherwise close with Moore-Nokes and Brzezinski separated by just 14 votes.

Rocky Schafer who received the fourth most votes, ultimately not enough to earn a seat on the board, was just 100 votes behind Brzezinski.

Sara Johnson and Lydia Rhoads also did not receive enough votes to earn a seat on the board.

Kaukauna School Board election results

Voters selected incumbents Chad Berken and Christine Bouressa and challenger Melissa Kurey to fill the three open seats on the Kaukauna school board.

The third incumbent in the race, Kathryn Breitzman, did not get reelected. She was first elected to the board in 2016 and reelected in 2019.

Bouressa got the most votes with just over 2,000. Berken had 1,877 votes and Kurey had 1,706. Ousted incumbent Breitzman had the fifth most votes with 1,529.

Hoffer and Charles West did not receive enough votes to earn them a seat on the board.

Kimberly School Board election results

Incumbents Penny Hoh and Debbie Roberts won the two seats on the Kimberly school board. They will both serve three-year terms.

Roberts and Hoh received similar votes with 2,127 and 2,107, respectively.

Challengers James Boots and Brian Regal did not receive enough votes to earn a seat on the board.
