Incumbents re-elected in two Dover races. Former councilman wins open seat.

Dover voters reelected Mayor Robin Christiansen to his third full term in Tuesday's election and decided two contested City Council seats.

Voting was held at the Dover Elks Lodge from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The unofficial results were released Tuesday night on the city's website:

Mayor – Incumbent Robin Christiansen defeated challenger Diana Welch, 900 to 526. Christiansen became Dover's mayor in a special election in 2014 and was elected to his first full term in 2015.

Council, 1st District – Incumbent Julia Pillsbury defeated challenger Paul Fleming, 326 to 184.

Council, 2nd District – Brian Lewis defeated Donyale Hall, 252 to 204, to fill an open seat after former 2nd District Councilman Ralph Taylor resigned in February. Lewis is a former Dover councilman who served for three years before being elected Kent County sheriff in 2018. He lost his reelection bid for sheriff in November.

Council, 3rd District – Incumbent Tricia Arndt was unopposed.

Council, 4th District – Incumbent Roy Sudler Jr. was unopposed.

The Dover Board of Elections was to audit the voting results Wednesday, April 19, at 11:30 a.m. in the City Hall conference room, 15 Loockerman Plaza, Dover. City clerk Andria Bennett said the official results would be available for public review.

Dover elections are held in odd-numbered years on the third Tuesday in April.

The mayor and nine council members are elected to four-year staggered terms. Two members are elected from each of the four council districts, while the ninth council member and the mayor are elected at large.

Holdover council members who will be up for election in 2025 are:

  • 1st District Councilman Gerald Rocha Sr.

  • 2nd District Councilman William Hare

  • 3rd District Councilman Fred Neil

  • 4th District Councilman David Anderson

  • At-large Councilman Andre Boggerty.
